Experience

 

2002- 2008           Frost Valley YMCA                   Claryville, NY

Director of Natural Resources

     Silvicultural management of forestland including inventory, prescription, marking, harvest planning, BMP implementation, sale of forest products, and contractor supervision.

     Wildlife management including population census, habitat development, harvesting quotas and quality improvement.

     Recreational Sporting Membership Program management and expansion to include hunting, fly fishing, hiking, and backcountry camping as well as Family Outdoor Sports Training weekends and 3D Archery programs.

     Maple Sugaring Operation development, expansion and management to include planning and building of a new sugar house, 1500 tap sugar bush care and management, as well as addition of new equipment and techniques.

 

2001 - 2002           Frost Valley YMCA                   Claryville, NY

Director of Vehicles, Grounds, and Forests

     Managed Budget and Supervision of six staff personnel.

     Coordinated the maintenance and management of 5000-acre forestland, 500 acres of developed land, and 100 motor vehicles.

     Instrumental in development of the Frost Valley Model Forest.

 

1984 - 2001               Frost Valley YMCA                    Claryville, NY

Property Director

     Oversight of Buildings, Grounds, and Vehicle maintenance.

     Management of budget and twelve staff personnel.

     Coordinated operation of an 800 tap Maple Sugaring program.

     Instrumental in the development and operation of Recycling, Food Waste Composting, Greenhouse and Waste Management Programs.

 

1980–1984                   Frost Valley YMCA                     Claryville, NY

Forest Manager

     Implementation of newly prepared Forest Management Plan.

     Supervision of three man wood crew and logging contractors.

     Responsible for the marketing of forest product and the development of educational forest management programs.

         Worked with school students and conference guests leading various environmental education and recreational programs.
